Wessex Pictures were recently give the task of cutting an unusual piece of glass for a painting in the National Portrait Gallery.
A newly commissioned portrait of Professor Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer for England, by artist Daphne Todd was unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery, London.
The painting is made up of four panels, characteristic of Todd’s approach, which is to allow the composition to evolve as she works. However the shape of this portrait did make the glass cutting a bit trickier.
4mm Schott Mirogard was specified for the portrait and it was cut by a waterjet cutter to the exact dimensions required.
